Cover Art: The Death Cure by James Dashner

Now I freaking loved The Maze Runner by James Dashner which was released here in the UK last Summer! I couldn't wait to get the second book, The Scorch Trials, but it's not even out here till August and it came out in America last year so a week or two ago now, I ordered the US hardback edition. Initially last October when it came out, I didn't like the cover, a reason  why I hadn't ordered it sooner, but it did start to grow on me and I finally said, enough waiting, I don't care, but when I opened that package I fell in love. Amazing cover art. So beautiful in person. And so a week or so ago now, I eagerly awaited the cover release for the third and final book in the trilogy. It's called The Death Cure and is out in America on 11th October and I shall be shipping my copy in! Check out the cover below!!!

Swim The Fly Blog Tour

Earlier this month I got an email from the lovely Leonora at Templar about this book... Swim The Fly by Don Calame! It's out next month and to celebrate there's going to be a blog tour and EoB is the penultimate stop! Yay!!!

Fifteen-year-old Matt Gratton and his two best friends, Coop and Sean, always set themselves a summertime goal. This year? To see a real-live naked girl for the first time. But this impossible mission starts to look easy in comparison to Matt's other challenge: to swim the 100 yard butterfly (the hardest stroke known to man) and impress the gorgeous Kelly West.

There's going to be a Q&A right here on 4th June, with a chance to bag yourself a signed copy too!! How exciting is that?!

Check out the flyer for the tour below, to check out where else the tour will be stopping off, and be back here on 4th June so you don't miss out on the fun!!

News: Immortal War Cover Art Released

At long last folks, the cover art for the final Vampirates book, Immortal War has been released. And it is a BEAUTY!!!

I first saw the cover in the 2011 stocklist booklet for Simon and Schuster UK Children's Books. Bare in mind it was a teeny tiny little pic, and I commented to Justin about the cover who said that the foil has certainly been cracked open! I cannot wait to see this in the flesh! :D

News: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 TRAILER!!!

I cannot believe, or excuse, how late I am in  posting this monumental piece of epic amazingness! The trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2!! I am so incredibly excited to see this film but at the same time so sad. Harry has been such a huge part of my life since I read Philosopher's Stone when I was about... 8 or 9. I loved it and now 10 years later the journey will be complete in both word and film. Sad! But good lord it looks amazing! Check it out!

NEWS: Cover art for Becca Fitzpatrick's Silence!

Today after months of speculation and waiting, at last the cover for the third and final book in Becca Fitzpatrick's brilliant Hush, Hush series, Silence, was revealed... and it's a corker! Check it out below!

AMAZING! It's out in October so count down them days folks!

Exciting Releases Coming Soon

There are lots of cool books coming out in the next few months that I for one am very excited to read. Here are my top picks to come soon!

The Saga of Larten Crepsley: Ocean of Blood by Darren Shan.
PUBLISHED: 28TH APRIL.
"The epic tale of the vampire Larten Crepsley continues. The question is – how far can Larten go… alone?
Free from their mentor Seba Nile, Larten Crepsley and Wester Flack join the Cubs – wild young vampires with little respect for human life, and a taste for mindless enjoyment.
For the Cubs, everything is easy. But nothing has ever been easy for Larten, and soon fate throws his life into another spin. With dark paths to travel, Larten finds himself far from the Vampire Mountain and its rules. A long way from home, sick and alone, he must decide what kind of vampire he will be. Whether he will stand firm, be true to his master and his princples – or whether he will lose himself in blood…"

I really enjoyed the first book of the saga, Birth of a Killer which was released last October! Been waiting for this ever since. Thankfully there are only a few weeks left to go! Check out my review of Birth of a Killer here! And pre-order Ocean of Blood here!

A Small Free Kiss In The Dark by Glenda Millard.
PUBLISHED: 1ST MAY.
"A haunting story of war that will profoundly affect readers Young teenage boys will engage with the central character and the subject matter *Skip's an outsider. He's never fitted in. So he takes to the streets. Life there may be hard, but it's better than the one he's left behind, especially when he teams up with Billy, an old homeless man. Then come the bombs which bring little Max and Tia, the sad dancer with a tiny baby. Scavenging for food, living on love and imagination, Skip's fragile new family tries to hold out as war grips the city, but too soon tragedy strikes when Tia dies. Max, Billy, Skip and the baby move on, to an old farm where they try to find new hope."

This sounds blooming brilliant and I am really looking forward to reading it. But just LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!! How amazing is that cover? The title placement and styling... I am in love with it! Pre-order this beaut right here!

The Midnight Palace by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
PUBLISHED: 2ND JUNE
"The book begins with a chase through the streets of Calcutta in May 1916. Lieutenant Peake pauses for breath outside the ruins of the Jheeter's Gate station knowing that he only has a few hours to live. Inside his overcoat he is sheltering two newborn babies - twins, a boy and a girl. Peake entrusts them Aryami Bose. Sixteen years later we meet the boy, Ben, and his friends. They have formed a secret club, The Chowbar Society, which meets each week at midnight in the old ruin they have christened The Midnight Palace. Then Aryami Bose turns up with Sheere, Ben's sister, and tells them the story of the parents they never knew. Their father was an engineer and writer who died in tragic circumstances at the inauguration of Jheeter's Gate station. But as the novel unfolds, there is more to their history than meets the eye and they are lured by a shadowy figure from the past into a final showdown in the ruins."

I loved Carlos' The Prince of Mist which was released over here last Summer and have been looking forward to reading more of his work! Thank the gods of publishing that this is on it's way! Loving the cover! Review of The Prince of Mist can be found here, and make sure you pre-order The Midnight Palace here!

Kidnap In The Caribbean by Lauren St John
PUBLISHED: 7TH JULY.
"Laura cannot contain her excitement when she wins a trip to the Caribbean for herself and her uncle, Calvin Redfern, especially when her best friend, Tariq, and her three-legged husky, Skye, accidentally find themselves on board too. But when they dock at Antigua, they discover that Calvin Redfern has vanished, and Laura and Tariq are about to be kidnapped by the fearsome Straight A gang. Dramatic escapes, an erupting volcano and a race against time to stop the deadly undercover 'Marine Concern' make Laura's second adventure every bit as exciting as the first."

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Dead Man's Cove. I read it last Summer and it sure is an enjoyable read for guys and girls of any age. Very excited to read this one and loving the cover! Check out my review of Dead Man's Cove (which was even quoted on the paperback release!!! :D) right here, and pre-order the book here!

Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
PUBLISHED: 13TH JULY.
"In SHIVER, Grace and Sam found each other. In LINGER, they foughtto be together. Now, in FOREVER, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in"

I really enjoyed Maggie's first book of the trilogy, Shiver and liked the second book, Linger, just as much. So looking forward to this one! Review of Shiver here, and Linger here... and the obligatory pre-order here!

Be sure to check them out and look out for more exciting releases in the coming weeks as there are toones of brilliant new books coming out in time for people to devour on their Summer holidays! :D

A Round Up: Scorpia Rising Second Trailer, Time Riders 4 and Oceans of Blood

Okay, so it's time for a bit of a catch up on all things bookish!

A few days ago I posted the trailer for Anthony Horowitz' long awaited final Alex Rider adventure, Scorpia Rising (for which I am uber massively, super amazingly, humdingingly excited for!!!). Well now Walker Books have released the second trailer and it's blooming brilliant. I love how much they're putting in to this book, the promo and everything so far, the designs, it's all so top notch. Bravo, Walker, Bravo! 11 DAYS TO GO!

Now, towards the start of the year, I brought Time Riders by Alex Scarrow. I'd been meaning to do so for a long long time but finally, I got around to it. I read it. Loved it. And have a review written in my notebook somewhere, which just needs to be taken from rough to final and will be coming soon. Looking forward to reading the second book, Day of the Predator and Book 3 released earlier this year, The Doomsday Code. But now Alex has announced the title and cover for Book Four! Out on 4th August, The Eternal War looks set to take on the American civil war. Check out the awesome cover below! I for one am looking forward to it!

Darren always has such brilliant covers! Bravo Harper Collins!

Exciting stuff, eh?!

News: Michelle Paver wins Guardian Prize!

Michelle Paver (she's my all time favourite author... but ssh... don't tell her that!) last night won The Guardian's Children's Fiction Prize for 2010, with the stunning conclusion to the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series, Ghost Hunter, which came out last August.

The prize was this year judged by authors Linda Buckley-Archer, Jenny Downham and last year's winner, Mal Peet. It was chaired by Julia Eccleshare.

I for one am very proud. I absolutely love Michelle (both her work and as a person). She so nice, down to earth and interesting. She puts so much work into these books and it's plain for all to see. The hours and hours, neigh... weeks! of research she puts into these books is both inspirational, and also very tiring to know! I just don't know how she does it! These books pack more into a 250 page tome than some books that are 200 plus pages longer. They are works of art.

For six whole books she captivates and has you sat on the edge of your seat. The qaulity never dips and deserves to be acknowledged! These books become something of an obsession when reading - they just have this affect on the reader that just leaves you speechless. Whether it's the evident amount of research, the stunning descriptions or the sheer magnitude of the story. She deserves every success she gets and more!

Trailer: Michelle Paver's Dark Matter

I can't believe I haven't blogged about this yet! The trailer for the awesome new book from Michelle Paver, Dark Matter, a ghost story, no less! It is incredible. You can check out my review here, and can get your hands on the hardback and audiobook on 21st October (that's 2 weeks today!!)!!!

Trailer: Noah Barleywater Runs Away by John Boyne

Check out this amazing trailer for Noah Barleywater Runs Away by author of The Boy In The Stripped Pyjama's John Boyne! I love this book. Such a great little story. You can check out my review here, but before you anywhere, check out the trailer below!

NEWS: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Trailer!

The theatrical trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 has been released! And it's as amazing as the trailer released a few months ago for both Part 1 and 2. Check it out below in it's full glory! I cannot wait to see this film!
